Grow
Grow is our monthly Home Ed session, taking place in the education room, garden and woods at Great Dixter.
Sessions will focus on seasonal activity in the garden and woods and include art, cooking, and science as well as a forest school approach to learning in the woods, with learners developing their own ideas and themes.
Sessions cost £20 for a family with more than one child, £10 for single child families, and include snacks which we make, materials and facilitation by education officer, Catherine.
March’s session will include a propagation activity- we need to get sowing the vegetable seeds for the learning garden and our Nursery Scholar Isabel will be around with another vegetative propagation technique- this time basal cuttings.
We’ll visit the garden and observe all the changes that will have occurred since the February session- there will be carpets of daffodils and spring blossom to spot.
Then we’ll return to the room, make some flatbreads to have with foraged wild garlic in the woods, and head to the woods for a free-flow afternoon with a fire, I’ll bring along some ideas for a whittling project for anyone who wants a project.
Future sessions are planned for
