Garden Explorers- Holiday activities

Garden Explorers is an adventurous group for children and their carers which takes place at Great Dixter, based from the Education room at Dixter Farm.  Thursday’s session is for preschool aged children – siblings welcome.

The plan this week is to head to the woods – we’ll make some wild garlic flatbreads- ingredients- SR flour, yogurt salt- butter to serve- please bring subs if you have allergies etc.

After making the flatbreads in the education room we’ll head to the woods for a  free flow morning of woodland adventures and a fire- I’ll bring some multi coloured yarn for some woodland crafting if anyone is keen. I’ll bring a story and my ukulele too. Of course there will be coffee for the adults.

As it’s the holidays we’ll meet at the slightly later time of 10am at the education room . You can book as ever from 9pm the night before the session.

The garden is now open to the visiting public so please park considerately (not in the disabled bays unless you are registered disabled) – budging up where you can as parking can be tight especially when the sun shines.

This also means that the cafe is now open (and well worth a visit) if you want to make an outing of it.

If you haven’t made it to the woods before it can be a bit of a trek for little legs- please take your time and enjoy the wood anemones and bluebells on the way and bring a sling for any less confident walkers as buggies can be tricky.

Information for new Garden Explorers:
There are baby changing facilities in the education room and the White Barn, next to the ticket office. There is lots of room for buggies inside the education room but when in the garden, we leave them by the ticket office and stick to the paths at all times.

Please be aware that Great Dixter is responsible for ensuring that all sites and activities are risk assessed and fit for purpose and you are responsible for direct supervision of your children while attending this group. Please read the health and safety information on our website before attending a session.
