Volunteers
At Great Dixter, we have a dedicated team of weekly volunteers who support our gardening, events, and educational activities.
Current volunteer opportunities
Green Woodwork volunteers: Come and join the Green Woodwork team in the Great Barn and learn a new skill. We are looking for volunteers on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Main tasks include whittling wood and constructing hurdles. No experience is necessary as full training will be given. For further details please click here.
Estate and vegetable garden volunteers: Would you like to support our estate team with keeping the wider estate and vegetable garden looking their best? We are looking for volunteers to join us on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Activities will include weeding, preparing beds, planting and harvesting vegetables, and general tidying and maintenance. This would suit someone who enjoys being outside and working as part of a team. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be given. For further details please click here.
Ornamental Garden Volunteer: The ornamental gardens and wildflower meadows at Great Dixter require a lot of work to keep them looking their best. We have several weekly volunteers who work alongside the garden team on practical tasks including meadow cutting, weeding, planting, propagating, and helping to ensure our garden visitors feel welcome.
